In an escalating war of cubicle modification, Jim decided to take everything out of Joe's cubicle. Everything. He left a single post-it note on the desk. No picture of that, unfortunately - however, here are some pictures of Joe's response:

The Cardboard Office

Looks like Mike's coworkers put up enough with his shennanigans and struck back one time he was out of town. A lot of nice touches and detail went into the office, complete with error messages on the computer and a cardboard fridge!

Walled In

Here's a good prank I just came across, it requires a few spare parts and a little construction, but your co-worker may never even get to his cube. Here's his description:

When I returned from Japan (I spent 5 weeks there), I found my coworkers had completely sealed in my cube by cannibalizing cube walls from other parts of the office. They later added the ladder so I could get in!

Post-It Note Prank

Here's a great prank that I enjoyed reading.

Damon has been playing tricks on me for a few days now. So I came in on the weekend and did some "re-decorating" in his office. He didn't see it until Monday morning when he came in and walked into his office.

His office blinds were closed, his door was shut and locked with this post-it right in the middle.

It says "Can you pick up some more post-its, we're running low".

Popcorn Filled Cube

John L. sent this one in to me. This looks like a pretty good prank, plus gives them plenty of afternoon snacks for awhile. Hopefully no one burned any while making it, one of the worst smells in the office. Here's what John had to say:

Keri had left for a week and I suggested we fill her cubicle full of
popcorn. We blew up a bunch of trash bags with air and threw it in her
cubicle, then also put some boxes in there to help create the illusion of
her cubicle full of popcorn, not to mention the work put in with plastic
wrap. It was great, no one could tell we only popped 25 bags of popcorn to
fill her desk.

We like to welcome people back from vacation with style.

Office Relocation

Herb sent this one in to me. He was nice enough to help one of his co-workers move his office. A great idea, I'm sure he was surprised!

Matthew left the office for a couple of days. He came back to find that he no longer worked in a cube, but a brand new office... in the Men’s bathroom. He actually worked for a day in his new "office" (computer and everything was working).

Packing Peanuts!

Charles just sent me the popular packing peanuts prank. Unfortunately or maybe it is fortunately, we never had access to styrofoam peanuts. Plus we were always too cheap to buy any supplies, the thrill of doing it on the cheap. :)

Here's what Charles sent me, good job on this one, looks great!

My supervisor had gone to California for a couple of weeks and the Friday before he returned we were bored and decided to play a prank on him. We drove down to a local packing supply store and purchased 3 big bags of peanuts. Then we built a box into his window and filled the peanuts between the box and the window. The effect on the outside was so convincing he almost fell into his office. He came in early on Monday and after seeing the peanuts he figured he'd just have to push his door in really hard to open in. He was really surprised when the door opened without any trouble.

p.s. I think ultimately the prank was on all of us because his first job
for us on Monday was cleaning up the mess we had made.

Balloons for JC

More balloon fun! JC was lucky to have six weeks in Italy and to come back with his cube a balloon paradise. Balloon animals, a balloon throne and a ceiling of red, white and green balloons, Bellagio, Florence and Venice has nothing on that. Michaelangelo eat your heart out.

Water Bottle Walls

An effort to demonstrate the ability and power of recycling at work. We prototyped the cube of the future by building it entirely out of water bottles and rubber bands. Thankfully David left us his cube to use for three weeks while he visited France.

The beauty of this prank, which was also known as Project Ashley, was we started collecting bottles weeks before David even left under the guise that Mark's daughter, Ashley, needed them for a camp project. So we encouraged Dave to contribute bottles which he did with enthusiasm.

We did eventually recycle the bottles which turned out to be $42 which we used for lunch. It did look quite nice in the sunlight too.

Party Streamers

The goal was to have ribbon hanging throughout Sean's cube like a 70's bead curtains. Unfortunately the dollar store up the street, where we get most of our cheap supplies, did not have any ribbon but did have lots streamers. So we bought them out. It still turned out pretty well.

Sean just pretending to be mad, he enjoyed it. He even left it up for a few days by trimming it back, but somebody told on us and facilities called us up and said it was a fire hazard and he had to take it down.

Foiled!

Marcus goes to France and comes back to his cube completely foiled. Every single object in his cube was covered in aluminum foil. Every pencil, pen, toy, book, pictures. Some of the nice touches included the individual sticks of gum, pictures drawn on the foil that covered photographs, pieces of paper tin foiled, aluminum kleenex.

Happy Meal Toys

Sean had his wisdom teeth taken out and comes back to a toy store in his cube. Mark has saved every Disney and Happy Meal toy that his daughters have ever gotten as well as numerous donations. So we had a few hundred toys setup all around Sean's cube, it looked like the happiest place on earth. Unfortunately, Sean couldn't laugh too well at our little prank otherwise he'd end up in pain and drooling on himself.

Jenny goes to Yosemite for the weekend and comes back to her cube filled to the brim with balloons. They really shouldn't give away stuff to us from the supply cabinets.

Wireless Speaker Prank

Mark and Marcus were trying to rig a wireless speaker underneath Sean's desk so they can broadcast various sounds via a remote computer. Unfortunately Sean came back while Mark was under the desk making the final adjustments. d'oh!

Think of the fun that we could of had with various sound clips.

Monitor Power Prank

While Marcus was away on a business trip, his monitor's power cable was rigged to a power strip two cubes away. This allowed people to walk into that cube and flip the power turning off and on his monitor seemingly randomly.

This turned out very effective because I ended up thinking I had a problem with my video card or monitor. They all giggled when they heard me shout out "WHAT THE!?" and "Ah, man! Don't do that?!" It took me a little while to find it but not after banging on the side of my monitor a few times.

Deserted Cube

Marcus left for the weekend to go to the Jazz Festival in New Orleans. We decided to make his cube a little bit more festive so he wouldn't miss New Orleans too much when he got back. :)

Taped!

Mark went to the Grand Canyon and came back to his cube a spider web of magnetic tape. He enjoyed sitting in it for a little while but his crinkling was too noisy so we made him take it down.

Unfortunately there are no photos available. We didn't learn until later to always bring a digital camera to work. We never know what we might do.
